NPP holds primaries in six constituencies today

The main opposition New Patriotic Party is holding parliamentary primaries in six constituencies today, July 25 .

The appeals committee of the party had cleared at least 8 constituencies for primaries.

But two of these constituencies won’t have the primaries anymore. A disqualified aspirant in the Kwesimintsim constituency in the Western region has secured a court injunction to stop the process.

And in Accra, some aggrieved party supporters in Klottey Korle are also in court to stop the process.

They argue the appeals committee had no grounds to clear a former constituency chairman Nii Noi Nortey to contest party lawyer, Philip Addison.

Klottey Kortey Constituency Organizer Daniel Odei Appiah told Starr News the development will affect the chances of the party in the constituency in 2016.

Meanwhile, one of six constituencies to keep an eye on is the Tema West constituency where incumbent Naa Torshie Addo is facing off stiff opposition from Carlos Ahenkorah and one other.
