We don’t know who is Ga Mantse – Gov’t

Government has said it is unable to make a pronouncement on who is the legitimate Ga Mantse.

This is because a legislative instrument that clarifies the true succession plan for the Ga state is yet to be passed.

The installation of a new Chief as the new Ga Mantse last weekend has sparked massive controversy within the Ga State.

The Ga traditional council has already rejected the claims of the kingmakers of the new chief. Government is under pressure to pronounce on the matter.

But chieftaincy minister Dr. Seidu Daannaa told the media at a press conference Thursday August 6, that until a legislative instrument is properly passed on the Ga state and its succession plan for chiefs, the legitimacy of a Ga Mantse can’t be determined.

“The ministry is not in a position to give an answer; not until we complete the work that was started. And after everything has been done, we take the work from the regional house of chiefs to the national house. So far now, we can’t take a decision based on a half done job,” Dr. Daanaa stated.
