ECG cuts power supply to Militia Flats to help eject policemen

The Electricity Company of Ghana has cut power supply to the Tema Militia Flats as part of moves to eject the policemen occupying the uncompleted building.

ECG carried out the exercise Wednesday following a request by the Tema Regional Police Command.

The structure was released to the Regional Police Command in year 2000 to help serve as a temporary quarters for police personnel as a result of insufficient residences in the Tema Metropolis to accommodate them.

But the Police Command recently served notice to its personnel to vacate the flats since it had been sold to a private developer but the officers argued they didn’t have funds to rent accommodation and hence cannot move out.

Sources have revealed that the uncompleted structure which has been on divestiture since 1990 has been sold to a private developer who has served a quit notice to the Police administration.

The Ghana Water Company has been directed to disconnect water supply to the building as part of moves to eject the policemen.
