Sixteen teachers at Mamfe Methodist Girls Senior High School, in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region, have been asked to vacate their post in the School.
An open released letter intercepted by Ultimate News and signed by, Sylvia Isabella Laryea, Headmistress of the School to the affected teachers states that, “I wish to officially inform you that, it has become necessary to ask you to relocate to a school of your choice due to over staffing”.
According to the Headmistress as stated in the open letter, the decision has become necessary because the School now has 106 teachers with student population of 1,979 therefore in line with the Ghana Education Service, national rationalization policy, the 16 affected teachers should go and search for any school of Choice.
The decision, has received opposition from the affected teachers who have petition the Akuapem North Municipal office of the Ghana Education Service. According to them, the reason for their removal from the school is far different from what has been stated explaining that, some of them have consistently stood up against acts of corruption in the school .They alleged that ,just recently the Headmistress attempted to use the name of the PTA to withdraw some monies from the Extra Classes fees collected but they resisted since the PTA denied knowledge.
When contacted, the headmistress, declined comment on the matter.
