Police kills one, 2 others stabbed and burnt in Asunafo chaos

One person has been stabbed to death, another burnt and one other shot to death by the police following a chaos that ensued at Kwapong in the Asunafo South district of the Brong Ahafo region.

According to an eyewitness, tension is mounting in the town after the police reportedly shot one person dead while trying to restore calm.

Speaking to Starr News, the eyewitness said a misunderstanding between an Okada rider and his passenger, who is believed to be hailing from the Volta region during the wee hours of Saturday, resulted in the death of the rider.

Kofi Emmanuel Spiderman, who is also a local reporter, said the passenger stabbed to death the rider in a misunderstanding leading to his arrest by the police. The natives of Kwapong, who were incensed about the death of their indigene, stormed the police station and vandalized properties.

They reportedly set the passenger on fire and in a bid to disperse the crowd the police shot at one person leading to his death.

All efforts to get the district police to comment on the incident have been unsuccessful.
