Ghanaian quartet book place in CAF Champions League finals with TP Mazembe

Quartet Solomon Asante, Yaw Frimpong, Richard Kissi Boateng and Daniel Nii Adjei have booked a place to the finals of this year’s CAF Champions League after aiding their Club TP Mazembe to defeat Sudanese side Al Merreikh in the second leg semi-final clash on Sunday.

The Ghanaians helped the Congolese Champions to post a resounding 3-0 win over their counterparts at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi to qualify on a 4-2 aggregate score line having lost the first leg 2-1 in Sudan.

Two goals from Tanzanian international Mbwana Samata and a goal by Roger Assale was enough to hand Patrice Catron’s side qualification to yet another historic final in Africa’s Inter-Club competition.

Trio Solomon Asante, Yaw Frimpong and Daniel Nii Adjei were all handed starting roles by their manager while Richard Kissi Boateng watched the game from the bench.

The former African Champions will however face Algeria’s USM Algiers in the finals of the 2015 CAF Champions League.

TP Mazembe are chasing their third Champions League trophy having won it on back-to-back occasion in 2009 and 2010
