NDC Decides: Confusion in Northern Region

Pockets of confusion have erupted in some constituencies in the Northern Region over alleged voter irregularities in the ongoing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential and Parliamentary primaries.

In the Tamale Central Constituency where incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister of Roads and Highways Alhaji Innusah Fusheini is seeking re-election, the confusion broke out at the Warizihi khalibiya and ECG polling center where the parliamentary ballot box should be placed. Some electorate wanted Presidential ballot box to be in an open place while the parliamentary which is of major interest to be placed in a secret place.

Voting process was suspended in the Kumbungu constituency over allegations of bloated register.

Four aspirants accused Ras Mubarak of bloating the register in order to smooth his way of becoming the party’s candidate for the area. The Electoral Officer in charge disclosed to ultimate1069.com that he has no option but to refer the matter to his superiors and the party leadership in Tamale.

Voting has therefore been accordingly been suspended in Kumbungu awaiting the outcome of a report lodged with the Regional Director of EC in Tamale.

Over one thousand uniformed personnel have provided security to 600 polling stations in the northern region alone.

Reports received by ultimate1069.com however reveal that security personnel detailed to most of the polling stations arrived late.
