The main opposition New Patriotic Party will on December 19, 2015, go for an extraordinary congress, party officials have confirmed to Kasapa 102.3 FM.
The congress will take place in the Brong Ahafo regional capital of Sunyani, party official John Boadu told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa Wednesday.
The congress Boadu confirmed, is to afford the party an opportunity to take stock of the happenings in the party over the last one year, and also plan towards election 2016. The decision he says is backed by Article 9(5) of the Party’s constitution.
Boadu refuted assertions the party is gathering to among other things take a definite decision on the Party’s suspended Chairman Paul Afoko.
“That is not our focus; everything we are doing is enshrined in the Party’s constitution. We are not going to do anything strange,” he told Banson.
