Two persons have been confirmed dead in the raging chieftaincy dispute in Bunkpurugu in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District of the Northern Region.
Kennedy Moajin and Bitian Piiba both 22 years old and unemployed, were believed to have been abducted on the way to farm by their assailants and murdered at a secret location.
According to police in the area, the two were reported missing last Friday November27, 2015 leading to a report being lodged with the police.
A search party was organized to look for them and at about 1:30pm on Saturday November 28, 2015, they were found in an uncompleted building under the pile of bricks.
Their death according to police preliminary investigations is linked to the long-standing chieftaincy feud in the area as the two are members of one of the gates.
The bodies of the two have since been deposited at the West Hospital Morgue in Tamale pending autopsy.
Meanwhile, there is growing tension in Bunkpurugu as relations of the deceased are reportedly arming themselves to avenge their deaths.
On Sunday night, security had to be stepped up amidst sporadic shooting from some locations within the town despite the imposition of a dawn to dusk curfew.
There is an uneasy calm in the area as police have hinted of closing up on the persons purported to have committed the act.
