Adam Kwarasey has chalked a piece of history by becoming the first Norway-born player to win the Major League Soccer Cup.
The 27-year-old was between the sticks for Portland Timbers in their 2-1 win over Columbus Crew at the MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
“It’s just amazing. I can’t describe it right now. It’s so fresh, the adrenaline is high and you see the energy in this room right now. We just played a 90-minute game. I’m sure all of the guys are tired but they’re still able to enjoy this. Unbelievable,” Kwarasey said after lifting the trophy.
Kwarasey was playing his debut season for the Timbers after joining the club in 2015 after leaving Norwegian side Stromsgodset.
He was born in Norway but chose to play for Ghana because he has a Ghanaian father.
