GHC3.6m rebranding metro mass buses saga: AG ordered to review

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has ordered the Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong to review the infamous Gh¢3.6 million contract on the re-branding of 116 Metro Mass Transit Buses.

In a letter dated December 17, 2015 Julius Debrah directed the Attorney General to “review the contract and the associated payments(s) and revert without fail with your findings to my office by close of day of 22nd December, 2015.”

However speaking on Adom news, the Manager of Crystal concept, the company which was hired by Smarttys Management and Production to do the spraying, Kwaku Mensah Abeiku, his company charged GHȼ11,600 as cost for rebranding of all the 116 buses.

According to him, they charged only GHȼ100 cedi for the labour cost for stickers on each bus and not GHȼ2,000 as indicated on the Pro-Forma invoice by Smarttys Management and Production.

He expressed shock that Smarttys Management and Production inflated the price for re-branding, raging that they have been cheated by the former.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who raised the alarm in the house, when they were reviewing the expenditure on ministry of transport budget for 2015, called for probe into the matter.
