Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has joined several actors of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to call for change in governance of the country in order to take it out of its current economic quagmire.
He admits that the style of leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress NDC) does not give hope to the youth who are envisaging a smooth system that will create jobs and solidify their future.
“Sadly however, this hope has been lost in the current dispensation because the NDC is unable to give Ghanaians this hope and type of leadership. Everywhere you go in the country now, everyone is saying we want change”, he said
According to the Former President, the change most Ghanaians are yearning for can only come through one party and that is the NPP and urged party leaders and members alike to psyche themselves if they are indeed prepared to effect change.
The Former President believes the NPP has the potentials to drive the economy of the country and effect the change required through the private sector as it has proven to generate wealth and jobs the people/electorate want.
“Power is there for us to take it, what is left for us is how we are going to take it collectively”, he added
He urged the party to close its ranks and eschew the fighting, noting that the lingering power struggle within could rob the NPP the opportunity of power in 2016 even though the indicators favour the party.
“Let this extraordinary conference put a cap to the infighting that has been raging within”, he concluded
