Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has admonished leaders of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to patch up their differences henceforth or forget the 2016 General Elections.
He observes that current economic situation in the country, gives the NPP the best chance of winning the 2016 elections by 54% or more but is worried the internal squabbles may defeat the ultimate agenda of the party winning the elections.
He charged the party to aggressively work towards uniting its front ahead of the 2016 elections since that is the only antidote to winning the support of Ghanaians who are crying loudest for the change.
Addressing party delegates at its 15th Extraordinary Conference at the Sunyani Coronation Park, Mr. Kufour appealed to all to use the event as a sealing cap to their differences.
“We have power; it is now left to us to see how we can take it. We must win the support of more voters in Ghana who will join us to effect the change in 2016”, he emphasized.
According to him, the lack of trust within the NPP has played a part in the disunity within the party and advised the current leadership to build bridges of trust to eradicate factionalism that is disintegrating the front of the party.
“Democracy is good for each country but it must not be characterized by infighting and acrimony. Let everyone express himself/herself and respect the rights of others. All the Chairmen at all levels must see yourselves as servants and share the vision of winning the election’’, he stressed.
