Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Lepowura Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen Dramani Jawula has been honored by of the Gonja Traditional area, Yagbon-Wura Tuntumba Boresa I for his dedicated service to mother Ghana and for upholding the virtues and values as well as raising the standard of the chieftaincy institution in high esteem.
He was honoured together with Dr. Calistus Mahama, Head of Local Government Service and Bonyanso-Wura Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Investment Bank (NIB) for contributing in diverse ways to the development of the Gonja area as well as their sterling achievement in their various professions. Yagbon-Wura Tuntumba Boresa honored the three at the special Damba celebration in Damongo, the West Gonja District capital of the Northern Region.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Bonyanso-Wura Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, commended the Yagbon-Wura for recognizing their efforts and promised to work hard in ensuring a total development in the Gonja area. The NIB boss also pledged to support the Yagbon Foundation in uplifting education especially the girl-child in the area.
Bonyanso-Wura Mawuli Agbesi who is from the Asogli state in the Volta region is optimistic that with the honour done him, it will further cement the relationship between the Gonjas area and indigenes of the Asogli state.
Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muniru-Limuna, who was the guest speaker, indicated government’s efforts to improve and accelerate access to education. “Government is pursuing a vigorous programme to ensure that the right environment is created to enhance teaching and learning by putting up the relevant infrastructure to develop the education sector”, he disclosed.
