Kumawood Actor cum comedian Abraham Davies Kofi alias Salinko contesting for Member of Parliament (MP) for the Atwima Kwawonma constituency in Ashanti Region on the ticket of Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has assured that he will be representing his constituents with all the seriousness they deserve and not to crack jokes.
‘We are not going to crack jokes in Parliament. People should take me serious, if I quote the constitution why do you have to stop me, are we not working with the constitution?,’ he asked.
Salinko pledged to bring in foreign investors to invest heavily in Ghana’s developmental projects especially his constituency.
According to him, the youth in the constituency he is vying for realised the potential in him, hence their decision to support him contest the seat.
‘The area boys saw the potential in me and encouraged me to contest the seat. I have a lot to offer my constituents, there is graduate youth unemployment so we will tackle unemployment, we will also concentrate on health facilities which lack logistics,’ he promised.
Speaking on Ultimate E-Review hosted by Naa Klordey Odonkor he envisaged that Parliament is a bigger platform to promote his social responsibility to society.
The Comedian who disclosed that he has been an active member since 2012 said his constituents’ needs are his problem.
‘I have been reaching out to the needy, I feel obliged to support them, there are physically challenged who walk with their hands, some orphanage homes don’t have toilet facilities, so I believe Parliament is a bigger platform for me to reach out to the needy, it will help me to promote my social responsibility cause. My target is the people in my area who are unemployed,’ he said.
The Parliamentary hopeful said acting which has become a source of employment is a means to an end.
‘In the movie industry, we the actors and actresses have our ambitions and aims, acting is a gift, it’s talent, so in the cause of acting, you try to pursue your ambition either to be a Pastor, Lawyer or Politician or Doctor, acting which has become employment could be a means to an end, acting is my talent. We actors have ambition to pursue but we just don’t feel like pursuing it,’ he stated.
He said he is motivated by the good work the party’s founder has been doing for the youth.
‘I love the Founder of PPP Papa Kwesi Nduom, he has been helping the youth,’ he intimated.
