Dery’s suit against Bola Ray and others thrown out

The five-member Supreme Court panel hearing the multiple suits filed by embattled High Court Judge Paul Dery against Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the Chief Executive Officer of the EIB Network, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, on Wednesday struck out the suit as withdrawn.

This was after counsel for the beleaguered Justice, Mrs Sika Ablah Addo withdrew the application.

The Panel was constituted by Justices Julius Ansah, Anim Yeboah, Baffoe Bonney, A.A Benin and J.B Akanbah.

However the lawyer for Bola Ray and Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Kissi Agyabeng speaking to Kasapa FM’s Court Correspondent, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman after the court proceedings said the substantive case will be heard at the High Court.

An embattled High Court judge Justice Paul Uuter Dery filed a writ seeking for contempt against the Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, and ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Others joined in the suit were the acting Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Samuel Frimpong; the Deputy Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Ernest Addo and the Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah.

“Unless and until this honourable court convicts the respondents herein, they will continue to publish prejudicial articles in respect of the said case. In the circumstance, I pray that this obvious disregard to the Court amounts to nothing more than contempt of Court of which the Respondents ought to be convicted and punished,” he prayed the court.

Justice Dery, who was indicted in the bribery scandal which has rocked the Judicial Service of Ghana, including 33 other judges and over 80 staff of the judiciary is seeking to block a video scheduled to premiere at the Conference Centre next Tuesday.
