The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) in the Ashanti Region has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Tafo, a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis following clashes between Muslim youth and traditional authorities in the area.
A combined team of armed police and military personnel who are patrolling the troubled area, have issued stern warning to residents to adhere to the curfew hours or incur their wrath.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye explained that the curfew is necessary to avert possible bloodbath indicating that it is going to be enforced rigidly.
“I pray that nobody fall foul of the law”, he warned
‘The military and police have taken over very successfully.Anybody found loitering around will be arrested by the Police. Tafo is calm now, we are advising everybody to be in his/her house and i wish to entrest them to observe the curfew hours as REGSEC has declared. Nobody will be allowed to take the laws into his/her hands,’ he further warned.
