The Progressive People’s Party is demanding the dismissal of the Health Minister, Alex Segbefia over the meningitis outbreak.
According to the PPP, Mr. Segbefia has done a poor job in the management of the latest outbreak of both pneumococcal and cerebrospinal meningitis.
So far over 540 people have been infected with 93 deaths recorded across the country.
General Secretary of the Party, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw in an interview with Starr News said the minister must step aside for a competent person to take charge.
“This is something that actually happens every year and our ministry was not proactive, our minister was not proactive and we have sat down for people to die.
“What matters is that no life should be lost under any circumstance, so if people are charged with the responsibility to act, they must act…people always die before we realize that something must happen.
“If there is any more life lost, somebody must give up his job and the minister of health must resign, we can’t take explanations any longer,” Siaw said.
