EC suspends ‘Controversial’ Election Steering Committee

The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the controversial steering committee after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Friday February 19, 2016.

This follows unanimous concerns from political parties that they were not duly consulted before the committee was set up.

According to the parties, the EC failed to clearly define the role  the 18-member committee will play in the  November 7, 2016 General Elections.

The EC after therefore decided to suspend the committee to allow it take a second look at the composition to clearly map out its role.
