Two persons shot, houses torched at Bunkpurugu

Two persons have reportedly been shot in sporadic shooting with several houses torched in renewed clashes Thursday night at Bunkpurugu in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District of the Northern Region.

The injured persons identified as Daajif Saabia and Chebdaa who suffered severe injuries and were left in pain before being rushed to the hospital due to delay in the arrival of the ambulance.

Jamon and Jafeok clans clashed some weeks ago over chieftaincy dispute.

Confirming this on Ultimate breakfast show hosted by Prince Minkah, the Northern Region Police Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah, explained ‘yes in actual fact there was a renewed clash in Bunkpurugu last night, as at now two persons suffered gunshot wounds. But unfortunately the ambulance could not come from Nankpanduri to convey them to Nalerigu because of fear of maybe attack on the way. So they were taken to the Clinic in Bunkpurugu for treatment. But this morning they conveyed them to Nalerigu for further treatment’.

He indicated that the police are yet to make any arrest but said police patrols have been intensified.

‘The police station share wall with house of the leader of Jamon, some people on motor bike opened fire at them, then went to the police station and moved to the police barracks and around midnight started burning houses, before firing at all directions,’ he narrated.

Information reaching Ultimate1069.com indicates that residents have started fleeing the community.

This DCOP Yeboah assured ‘We are sending re-enforcement and also intensify our patrols there and then we are going to make some arrest, the victims have been treated’.
