Christians around the world including Ghana will today Sunday, March 20, 2016 observe Palm Sunday. The celebrations will mark the annual commemoration of the Holy Week of Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ that has been observed traditionally for centuries.
According to custom, on Palm Sunday, people carry small palm tree branches in a procession from a church courtyard to inside of it, singing hymns denoting the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
Following soon after is Maundy Thursday; the day Jesus Christ celebrated the last supper with his disciples, four days after the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. After this, comes Good Friday marking the arrest, trial, crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus Christ. The third day from then is Easter, the feast of Jesus’ resurrection.
