A sod has been cut for the construction of a Regional Secretariat for executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Wa.
The Upper West Regional secretariat of the NDC is currently operating in a rented space with just two offices meant for the secretary and organizer as well as a receptionist.
When completed, the new complex will have offices for all executives of the party and also house the Regional youth Secretariat of the NDC.
It is expected to be completed in 2019.
Speaking during the sod cutting ceremony in Wa, the National Chairman of NDC Mr. Kofi Portuphy called on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to settle their differences so as to help maintain the peace currently prevailing in the country.
Mr. Portuphy indicated that the country will not burn simply because some persons want to be president.
“Ghana will not burn. We will make sure no one disrupts the peace we are currently enjoying. I want to call on other political parties who are currently in crisis to resolve their differences. They should see themselves as one people on one country called Ghana,” he urged.
He called on members of the party to work assiduously to ensure that the party is retained in November to continue with its good works of transforming the country.
On his part, the Chairman of the Upper West Regional Finance Committee Alhaji Alhassan Gbangu encouraged members of the party to contribute their quota to ensuring that the party secretariat is completed on schedule.
He stated that the Secretariat will provide a conducive environment for officials of the party to work efficiently.
