About 200 STMA branded waste collection bins are currently lying idle at the Juaboso district assembly in the Western Region.
An insider who revealed this claims the bins were transported from Sekondi to Juaboso for waste management.
According to the source, interested groups and individuals were made to register for a bin at GHC5.00, depending on one’s political affiliation.
Interestingly, many households and shop owners in the Sekondi / Takoradi Metropolis where the bins were sent from are in dire need of the bins.
Some Assembly Members from STMA have expressed surprised at this revelation, according to them, these bins are badly needed in the Regional Capital and cannot fathom why they have been diverted to a different district, over 170km from Sekondi /Takoradi,
They expressed worry that the bins have been left to gather dust.
The Assembly Member for Fijai Mark Cudjoe who expressed shock, said all efforts to lobby for some of the bins for some schools in his Electoral Area has proven futile.
The Head of Waste Department of STMA, Duni Bom denied knowledge of it but promised to investigate the matter.
