The Parliamentary candidate of the Progressive Peoples’ Party (PPP) for Wa Central Constituency James Sohimininye says he will support music talent in the constituency if elected to represent them in parliament.
According to him, a lot of talent abound in the constituency but due to the absence of a support system for the musicians, they are not reaching their desired limits.
Mr. Sohimininye who spoke to Ultimate news’ Musah Lansah on the side lines of his confirmation as parliamentary candidate for the Constituency on Friday, 22nd April,2016 said, “if you look at the constituency we have a lot of talent in music but because we are not supporting them, they are struggling to make it. For instance if a musician is supposed to perform somewhere but has no money to support himself or herself, he will not make. So if I win as MP, I will make sure we put in place measures to support the young people who are into music”.
He promised to institute a music festival in the constituency to reward hardworking musicians in the area.
Mr. Sohimininye added that his party will ensure that sports is also given a push to encourage more people into it.
The confirmation of James Sohomininye was witnessed by the National Chairman of the PPP Allotey Brew Hammond and some other national officers and it attracted over 300 delegates from the constituency.
His confirmation brings to four the number of candidates going into the 2016 parliamentary elections in the Wa Central constituency.
He will come up against the incumbent ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP Rashid Pelpuo, People’s National Convention (PNC’s) Abdulai Sherif Ghali and the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) Isaac Moomen.
