Chairman Wuntomi to Turn Himself to Police on Tuesday can exclusively report that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako affectionately called  Chairman Wontumi will later today turn himself to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

The NPP stalwart was declared wanted by the police in Ashanti Region after he was alleged to have physically assaulted the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Collins Owusu Amponsah at the Nana Fodjour House in Krofrom registration centre.

According to close sources, the NPP chairman had earlier asked the MP to form a team to observe the exercise as the legitimacy of the constituency executives was still in contention.

The MP in acting on the directive put together the team which had among other persons his special aide known as Aggudey, who is known to have a frosty relationship with the embattled Regional Chairman.

Chairman Wontumi on his rounds within the Manhyia North constituency chanced on Aggudey and confronted him asking him to leave the premises of the registration centre.

A slap from the Chairman meant for Aggudey in the midst of the heated quarrel, landed straight on the face of Collins Owusu Amponsah who tried to intervene.

A formal report of assault was lodged with the police but all attempts to get the NPP Chairman arrested proved futile as he turned down all invitations extended him resulting in him being declared wanted by police investigators in a release signed by Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Yussif Tanko.
