The Minister for Fisheries and Acqua Culture Sherry Hanny Ayittey is calling for a greater environmental consciousness among Ghanaians in the wake of a looming climate change.
The minister is concerned about the effects of climate change which has begun catching up with Ghana and therefore underscored the need for civil society, Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to scale up measures in mitigating its effects.
Madam Sherry Aryittey at a meeting with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Kumasi, tasked them to formulate policies to feed into the United Nations sustainable development goals. The SDG 13 demands that all countries take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
She called for project managers and the citizenry to endeavour to take cognisance of the environmental impact of every commercial and domestic activity on the country and its livelihood.
