As the world continues to pay glowing tribute to boxing legend Mohammed Ali for his greatness and charisma after his passing away on Saturday, Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson of the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo believes Ghanaian boxer Brimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku upon his death will be remembered for his stupidity.
The former world heavyweight boxing champion, one of the world’s best-known sportsmen, died at a hospital in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona, after being admitted on Thursday at the age of 74 years.
He was suffering from a respiratory illness, a condition that was complicated by Parkinson’s disease.
Nicknamed “The Greatest”, the American beat Sonny Liston in 1964 to win his first world title and became the first boxer to capture a world heavyweight title on three separate occasions.
He eventually retired in 1981, having won 56 of his 61 fights.
However Bukom Banku the musician cum boxer, who’s one popular Ghanaian boxer currently, has come under heavy public flak especially on social media following series of videos he released on social media endorsing President Mahama and the ruling party in an “uncivilized” manner.
In his recent videos, the Bukom based controversial boxer released another ‘campaign’ video revealing his butt, much to the chagrin of many well meaning Ghanaians.
Bukom Banku’s consistent misconduc,t Mustapha is convinced will not earn him a good tribute after his death.
Mustapha writes: “Muhammad Ali is dead today, and the world remembers him for how he lived and for what he stood for. The world remembers him for his greatness and for his charisma. One day, Bukom Banku (a Ghanaian boxer) will be dead, and those around will remember him for his unsophisticated idiocy…That is the world for you, you can choose how you want to be remembered by how you live today, by what you do and by how you influence the world around you. You can be a Muhammad Ali, or you can be a Banku. The choice is yours young man, the choice is yours young woman.#Choices”
