The Ashanti Regional chapter of the Ghana Federation for the Disabled has raised concerns about the disbursement of the 2% share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACFs) allocated to persons with disability.
According to the federation, the implementation, management and disbursement of this fund is froth with bottlenecks.
President for the Federation, Alfred Amponsah Tebi told Ultimate News, the irregularity in the release of the DACFs for onward disbursement is making dependents worse off.
He also complains about the length of time it takes for the assemblies to accept the proposals of persons with disability.
He called on government to streamline the fund to better the lives of persons with disability.
‘When you talk about support on this 2% district assembly common fund, as it was implemented, as am speaking with you now, I learnt the 2015 quarterly fund was disbursed last month May and others are still chasing it, it can take somebody about three years before the proposal will be granted, and even what you have written is not what you will get, its suppose to come quarterly but is not forth coming, when you complain, they say you are doing politics,’ he bemoaned.
