The Ashanti Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for the financier of armed robbers within the Kumasi Metropolis and its environs.
It is believed that the bank roller of robbers who has gained notoriety in recruiting young men into the illicit business is linked to the Kotwi robbery which occurred on Wednesday dawn.
Identified as Papa Djan a firewood seller, the suspect has been mentioned as the one who finances robbery operations of the suspects who carried out the murder and robbery of Anthony Drobo a fuel retailer at Kotwi.
The revelation came up when the suspects were arrested on Wednesday around 5:pm at Asafo BB, another suburb of Kumasi.
Addressing Journalists, ACP Osei Ampofo Duku, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Commander appealed to the public to help the police arrest the suspect who has gone into hiding to assist in investigation.
‘One person known as ‘Power’ who happens to be one of the buyers of the items they rob being it Laptops, mobile phones and other electrical gadgets admitted and mentioned his brother one Papa Djan, a firewood seller at Asafo BB but a resident of Adiabeba, a suburb of Kumasi as the one who finances the suspects to embark on their robberies and afterwards sell to him (Power).
The Command is appealing to the public to help arrest Papa Djan and Kwaku Ababe who have been declared wanted to assist in investigations,’ he said.
