48 Prisoners in Kumasi benefit from President’s Amnesty

About 48 prisoners comprising of 45 males and 3 females in Kumasi Central Prisons of the Ashanti Region have benefitted from president’s amnesty granted to prisoners across the country.

Families of inmates who benefitted from the amnesty have been duly informed and that the necessary measures have been put in place for all beneficiaries to reunite with their families.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Fremah Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Prison Public Relations Officer (PRO) Richard Bukari expressed gratitude to the president for the granted amnesty.

He called on the president to grant such amnesties as often as possible to decongest the prisons.

The Chairman of the Prison Service Council Reverend Steven Wengam has urged persons in various communities to accept these people and help them integrate as they have gone through reformation exercise and have equally shown signs of good behaviour.

According to him, any societal stigma will affect these persons and push them back into criminal acts.
