On Tuesday, April Corcoran, 32, was sentenced to 51 years to life in prison in what the judge in her case said was the worst thing she has seen so far in her career.
As reported by the Washington Post, Corcoran pled guilty in June to raising money to buy heroin by loaning her 11-year-old daughter to her drug dealer, who raped, sodomized, and abused the 11-year-old, all with her mother’s permission.
“I can honestly say that, in three-and-a-half years on the bench, this is by far the worst thing that’s come before this court,” said Judge Leslie Ghiz in Ohio’s Hamilton County Pleas Court, where the case was heard.
The Post reported that the 11-year-old daughter was forced to have vaginal, anal, and oral sex with Corcoran’s 40-year-old male drug dealer, and some of the acts were videotaped at times.
She pleaded guilty in June to several counts of complicity to rape, human trafficking, and child endangerment.
To make matters even more disturbing, WLWT TV reported that, because the dealer actually prefers children younger than 11, Corcoran took “elaborate steps” to make her daughter appear younger than 11.
She also told her daughter she was “brave” for having sex with the 40-year-old man, and would occasionally reward her with heroin.
“I viewed the tape, I saw my granddaughter, I heard her small voice,” Corcoran’s mother said in an emotional testimony. “I don’t know if my granddaughter will be able to have a normal life.”
During Corcoran’s sentencing, Ghiz said the court will have the kind of mercy on Corcoran that she had on her daughter, “which is none.”
