The flag bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has given the strongest indication he will be picking his running mate from the Ashanti region.
Ivor Kobina Greenstreet is currently in the Ashanti region as part of a national campaign tour dubbed the ‘Apam Fofr)’ which translates the New Covenant.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Head of Ultimate News; Julius Caesar Anadem, Mr. Greenstreet expressed concern the Ashanti region has no representation in the top echelons of political parties.
“If you look at all the major political parties, I don’t see any Ashanti presidential candidate; I don’t see any vice presidential candidate from this region, and I also don’t see any national chairman of any political party from the Ashanti region. I only see one general secretary from your region who is now on suspension in the New Patriotic Party (NPP). I don’t see any national organiser from the region, I don’t see any national youth organiser from your region; no national women’s organiser from here,” he noted.
He believes a powerful personality should come from the Ashanti region to be part of the people at the helm of affairs in the country.
“A region as powerful and as vibrant and energetic as the Ashanti Region, I think you need to be seen more prominently in national affairs, so that might be part of the reasons why I am here,” Mr Greenstreet disclosed.
Though evasive on giving out names, he disclosed that the party has four names under consideration for a running mate to partner him for his December 7 presidential bid.
