Several years after setting a national record which is yet to be broken. Mr. Sorinye is now in dire need of cash to undergo a total hip replacement to enable him walk properly again.
OLYMPICSHe needs about 3,400 Pounds Sterling to undergo the surgery but his appeal for support has fallen on deaf ears as no one is willing to help him.
Mr. Sorinye says he is hiding his plight from the younger generation in order not to scare them from engaging in sporting activities for the country.
“I broke the record set by one Jones and broke my own record years later. I started feeling bad when I was injured and nobody is showing concern. I don’t want students to hear of my plight because they will not be willing to engage in any competitive sporting activity for the Country”, he bemoaned.
He is particularly worried that people who hitherto hailed him for his sporting exploits are indifferent to his plight.
