Lecturers at the Kumasi Polytechnic have come hard on the Vice Chancellor of University of Ghana Professor Ernest Aryeetey for kicking against the conversion of Polytechnics into Technical Universities.
The attack on the scholar comes after he criticized government’s basis for the planned conversion of polytechnics into technical universities.
Conveying his skepticism about the conversion process, Prof. Aryeetey contended that it is only being undertaken to serve the interest of a few.
Professor Aryeetey said this in his presentation on a topic “The Politics of Educational Reforms in Ghana” at a ceremony of NDK financial Service last week.
But the Chairman of Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) Kumasi chapter Boadu Elijah Frimpong has described the comments by Professor Aryeetey as unfortunate and an attempt to undermine the competence of lecturers at various Polytechnics in Ghana.
He told Ultimate News the polytechnic fraternity is fully prepared for the technical university programme to kick start.
