The World Shortest Lovers set to wed

The world’s shortest couple, with a combined height of just 5ft 10in are set to tie the knot. Standing just 34.8in tall, Paulo Gabriel da Silva

Barros, popped the question to his girlfriend, 35.2in Katyucia Hoshino in front of close friends at a restaurant in their hometown of Itupeva, Brazil.

The 30-year-old has diastrophic dysplasia dwarfism while 26-year-old Katyucia has achondroplasia dwarfism.

While the couple are short in stature, they say their love for each other grows bigger by the day.

Paulo, 30, has diastrophic dysplasia dwarfism, while 26-year-old Katyucia has achondroplasia dwarfism.He said he was bowled over by Katyucia's beauty, but she was shy and unimpressed with his dress sense 

They are hoping to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for their size after meeting on social media 10 years ago.

“I found her very beautiful from the first moment I saw her,” Paulo recalled.

The couple from Brazil measure 34.8in and 35.2in respectively. They met online ten years ago 

She explained: “The first time I started talking to Paulo, he was really annoying. He had cheap pick-up lines.”

Paulo added: “She thought I was trying to flirt but I was just being nice.

“According to her I was a really boring guy.”

Things almost didn’t go any further, but Katyucia had a change of heart 18 months later and decided to unblock Paulo on the site.

Paulo, 30, who has a rare genetic condition called diastrophic dysplasia dwarfism, said it was love at first sight 

They got talking, and their romance grew from there.

“One day something happened in my head and I went and unblocked him. By then he was already more relatable,” Katyucia explained.

Paulo added: “When she unblocked me, it didn’t take me more than a minute to say hello.

“We started speaking and she said I was more civilised.”

After two months Paulo took the 186-mile trip to visit Katyucia in Londrina, the city where she’s from.

He was bowled over by her beauty – while she was shy and unimpressed with his dress sense.

But the attraction wasn't mutual. Katyucia, 26, initially blocked him on the instant messaging site 

Paulo said: “What most attracted me to her, besides her beauty, was how sweet she was. It was her sweet personality.”

Katyucia added: “He was wearing an orange shirt, jeans and sunglasses – thank God it has improved since then.”

Katyucia, who now owns her own beauty salon, decided to give him a chance 18 months later and their romance blossomed 

She was initially worried about having a long-distance relationship, but after five days they started dating and four years later they moved in together.

“I had never dated before so Paulo is my first boyfriend, my first everything,” Katyucia said.

After speaking regularly online for two months, Paulo travelled more than 186 milies to Katyucia's home city of Londrina to meet her

Paulo, who has a specially-adapted car to enable him to drive, says his height doesn't have too much of an impact on his lifestyle He says he has ambitions to run for mayor in his home town of Itapeva, Brazil

After eight years together, Paulo and Katyucia - pictured at the supermarket with an adapted trolley - are talking marriage

Katyucia praised Paulo for his amazing patience, adding that he 'teaches me so much' Paulo said that Katyucia supports him in everything, describing her as 'my little warrior'

The smitten couple pictured at home, are open to the possibility of children in the future - although it may be difficult for Katyucia to carry a baby full-term because of her size Katyucia says that one day she wants to have their own house and their own dogs
