Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Saanie Daara, insists talks have not concluded yet for the Black Stars to play Russia in an international friendly on September 6.
This will be the second country after earlier confirming talks with the USA national team.
Saanie believes that Russia’s achievement in world football will help provide a perfect test for the West African giant.
However, Saanie confirmed Ghana is keen on playing the 2018 world cup host and intend to use the game as part of preparations for the 2018 world cup qualifiers which begins in October.
“I can confirm that we [GFA] are in talks with Russia and not yet concluded,” Saanie told Ultimate FM.
“We are keen on playing Russia in September.
“They are one of the top football nations in the world and the host of the 2018 World Cup.”
Ghana will play Rwanda in their last AFCON match in September, before opening their world cup qualifying campaign against Uganda in October.
