Ghanaian Female Judoka Szandra Szogedi has expressed her disappointment after failing to qualify to the next stage of the women’s 63kg judo event.
Szogedi lost 100 points to zero to Brazilian Mariana Silva on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old who first competed for Ghana in 2011, is the second Ghanaian to exit the competition after young female swimmer Kaya Adwoa Forson failed to progress in the swimming event.
Szogedi said she was in top form and had a lot in her to deliver for the nation.
She added that, she is proud to have represented Ghana despite failing to make the next round of the competition.
“We had our game plan and it was working. Judo is like that, split second is enough to lose,” Szandra said after the competition.
“In a split second, it’s enough for you to get your arm ripped off, fall or get choked like I did,” she added.
Ghana’s sole male swimmer, Abeiku Jackson will compete on Thursday August 11, 2016 in the 50m freestyle.
