MCE Threatens To Pull Down Billboards of NPP Candidate in Gwira

The Parliamentary Candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency in the Western Region, Catherine Ablema Afeku has been directed to remove her billboard situated at Axim the constituency capital.
Ultimate News’ Emmanuel Ohene Gyan who intercepted a copy of the letter reports that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for Nzema East James Atta Kakra Baidoo has directed Catherine Afeku to remove her campaign billboard with immediate effect.
Confirming the directive in an exclusive interview with Ohene Gyan, the former legislature alleged that the MCE wants to divert attention of concerns that he has acquired three mansions within three years in office.
‘Am not sure where the political mischief is coming from but all I know, I don’t have it on paper, you know its a political season, there is rumour all over town that the young MCE has built mansions  and the aggrieved unemployed youth are saying all sort of things about him, so in an effort to appease them, he thinks by harassing his political opponent might win some sympathies and they will leave him alone, but its a very bad blow below the belt,’ she said.
She explained that though she went through the right process to acquire the land, she has been given a week ultimatum to relocate her billboard.
‘Yes its true although the letter was not addressed to me, it was delivered to me, the politics behind it is that for the past six weeks, I have been harassed and victimised for placing my billboard specifically in center of the capital by the Municipal Assembly, what has transpired is that since 2008, I have had my billboards placed with the consent of the land owners, they gave me the permission to put it there, I have been paying the assembly the levy charged,’ she said
The parliamentary hopeful wondered why the assembly is on her case.
‘The billboard is not sitting on any water hydrant or blocking an ambulance road,’ she said.
