The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nektia has said New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislators from the Brong Ahafo region, are to blame for the infamous DKM Micro Finance saga.
He indicates that the MPs who themselves invested in the phony scheme, urged their constituents to join because they demonstrated to the innocent people it was a good investment decision and therefore encouraged them to join.
“Lawyers, accountants and knowledgeable people of high class in society are those to blame because they invested in it and paved the way for the poor victims”, he said.
Speaking on Wa-based WFM, he wondered why the very persons who created the problem are trying to shift the blame when they are supposed to be apologizing to the illiterates who have lost their investments.
“They created the problem and must be apologizing to the victims they led astray rather than blaming NDC leaders because they led the masses to make the wrong investment decisions”, he stated.
Mr Asiedu Nketia bemoaned the over politicization of the DKM scandal with several failed attempts to link the first family in the whole scheme just to win an election.
According to him, most of the victims in NDC strongholds have also been affected noting that the NPP should rather be jubilating over the plight of the victims if it inures to their benefit.
He stated that the investments decisions of the ordinary people is not controlled by government and no where did the victims consult government agencies over the viability of the DKM issue before they put in their money maintaining that they exercised their constitutional rights resulting in the problems.
While observing that most of them withdrew their savings in state-owned banks to invest in DKM and the rest, he said the NDC government cannot be held accountable for their woes.
