Afari Gyan wins best fish farmer

The former Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan won the Greater Accra ‘Best District fish farmer’ during National Farmers’ Day held on Friday.

Dr  Afari Gyan has being in the fish farming sector for the past 17 years.

Dr Afari Gyan who retired as chairman of the EC on June 17, 2015 chaired the presidential and parliamentary elections in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

As a deputy commissioner, he was also part of the commission that conducted the 1992 elections.

The 32nd National Farmers’ Day celebration which was held at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region under the theme: ‘Agriculture: A Business Response to Economic Growth’, saw a 42-year-old Robert Crentsil from Ejumako-Enyan-Essiam in the central region winning the national best farmer award.
