Disqualified presidential nominee of United Front Party (UFP) Dr Nana Agyenim Boateng popularly called ‘Gyataba’ has thrown his weight behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Dr Boateng was part of the 13 candidates who were disqualified for failing to meet the needed electoral requirements.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he explained that after dissecting the manifestoes of the two main political parties they realised that the UFP shares the same vision with NDC, hence their decision to support them win this year’s elections..
He added that they did not endorse New Patriotic Party (NPP) because it is a violent party unlike the NDC which has become a united party under the leadership of President Mahama.
Gyataba wondered the magic used by the President in transforming NDC with flooded infrastructural projects in the country.
‘Apart from the manifestoes that we analysed, the personality of the two candidates Nana Addo Dankwa and President Mahama were also considered. NPP has changed from being a disciplined party to a violent one after Nana Addo took over the leadership position from former President John Agyekum Kufuor. NDC was perceived to be a violent party but now the table has turned. The NPP lacks substantive National Chairman, General Secretary and Vice National Chairman,’ he explained.
Dr Agyenim who was a former member of NPP declared his support for the NDC on Tuesday saying he will be embarking on a vigorous campaign to amass votes for the NDC to be retained.
‘We will add 500,000 votes to their target of 1.5million votes, we have the numbers to vote for NDC to win power, there wouldn’t be any run-off its one touch victory for Mahama. Apart from NDC and NPP, they are the third organised party in the country. We have set up a team that will be going round to campaign for votes,’ he said.
