Persons with disabilities have been encouraged by authorities of Youth Enterprise Agency (YEA) to take advantage of modules under the programme.
The agency in a seminar on Friday sensitised about 300 persons with disabilities on the various employment modules and processes of application.
The YEA has created employment opportunities for some 8,000 young persons in the Ashanti region out of which 80 are persons with disabilities.
The event which forms part of the YEA’s activities saw the hearing and speech impaired, visually impaired and those with mobility impairment in attendance.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Director in charge of Operations at YEA, Abubakar Sadik Ibrahim debunked assertion that persons with disabilities have to pay bribes or have to belong to a particular political party before being employed into any of the modules.
Ashanti Region President of the Ghana Federation of the Disabled, Terbi Amponsah, told Ultimate News they were poised to encourage their members to take full advantage of the various modules under the YEA.
‘We would advice and educate our members at the various districts who were unable to attend this programme to apply whatever area they qualify for, so that they would be properly trained in that area,’ he said.
