The former Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Ejisu Juaben Municipal Assembly Yamoah Ponko has blamed the Ashanti Regional Campaign Coordinator of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Andy Osei Okrah for causing the gross defeat of party during the December polls 7, 2016.
He claimed the Deputy Regional Minister who is not politically inclined failed to work hard to retain the party blaming him for sidelining NDC gurus in the region who know the nitty-gritty of elections.
A disappointed Yamoah stated that the conduct of Okrah during the electioneering is highly unforgivable.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he enumerated that bigwigs like himself, Regional Chairman Yaw Obimpeh, former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu among others were sidelined.
According to him, himself and Mr Bonsu who were not assigned any roles were equally left out of the monies allocated for the campaign and that they had to use their own resources to embark on their underground campaign.
He accused members of the NDC of being jealous when they started their campaign thereby gossiping about them.
‘We were sidelined from the campaign team, Kojo Bonsu and I really worked very hard on our own accord by using our own resources especially his funds. Our campaign team was the first to be outdoored in the region, we promoted the Onapo song. Some of our members told President Mahama that we had started our campaign without authorization, how.
Andy Okrah who is the Campaign coordinator never invited us to join them, or gave us any money for our campaign, the regional campaign couldn’t be compared to us. Politics is not about height or dressing, its for a certain people, its about mingling with people. I think our loss which I am blaming Andy Okrah can be attributed to bad policies, strategies and above all lack of gumption to do the work, he didn’t deserve that position. It was wrong, he doesn’t know politics, he doesn’t know the movers and shakers of NDC in the region. He is a total failure, he doesn’t know any leadership skills whatsoever, lots of things went wrong, because campaign is a different ball game, we lost bitterly,’ he pointed out.
