Former Minister Counsels Nana Addo to Consider experienced Appointees

A former minister of Chieftaincy and culture Samson Kwaku Boafo, has advised the president-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to take into consideration the experience of persons he intends engaging as minister before appointing them.

In his view, some ministers under the erstwhile Kufuor administration with a vast wealth of experience could be considered to make his administration a success while those who are new entrants may be engaged as deputies.

On why he is muting this idea, he stated experience is pivotal in the success of every government and once some of the persons who contributed immensely to the success of Former President Kufuor are still around, they can serve as good counsel to the younger ones.

“I am not saying the younger ones cannot be ministers. That is not what I mean but I want to say that an experienced person should lead the ministry while a young person is appointed as a deputy to understudy him in order to gain some experience”, he explained.

According to him on the Ultimate Breakfast Show on Friday, young persons could take charge of a full ministry depending on their capacities and capabilities adding that the new NPP administration cannot afford to fail Ghanaians who reposed much confidence in it.

Mr. Boafo observed that the caliber of appointments under the outgoing government led to the confusion in the running of the country stating that the NPP will not allow such practices to characterize the virgin administration.

“Some ministers were interested in amassing wealth to the detriment of their core duties and all these were borne out of inexperience”, he emphasized.
