Minister Designates will be properly’ grilled’ during vetting -1st Deputy Speaker

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joseph Osei-Owusu has revealed that minister designates appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo will properly be grilled to be certain they are of the best.

Joseph Osei-Owusu who is the chairman of the 26-member appointments committee of parliament, revealed that the committee will not be a rubber stamp indicating that backgrounds of appointees will thoroughly be checked to ensure the president chose the best to run his affairs.

“This is will not be a walkover for the appointees. We will do background checks and properly investigate all appointees to ensure there are the right caliber of persons for the positions they have appointed for”, he said.

According to him on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Kwame Adinkra , the clerk of parliament once the names have been unveiled, will place an announcement for persons who have adverse findings against any of the appointees to come forward with evidence.

This he said will be preceded by the vetting process which he will chair to further quiz the appointees and examine their competence in the areas they have been assigned which will be a week from today.
