The Manhyia Palace has outlined some principal streets that will be blocked during the burial rites of the Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II on Monday January 16-19 Thursday, 2017 in Kumasi.
A statement signed by the Manhyia Chief of Staff Kofi Badu said ‘ All roads leading to the Palace will be blocked for security reasons but selected areas have been allocated to the public for parking. A bus has been provided to shuttle visitors to and from the Palace’.
Meanwhile, the Central Mosque, Asawase metro, Asawase Methodist school park, St. Theresa’s R/C school park have been allocated for public parking.
It stated that tight security provided by military and police command will be on standby at the various allocated parking spaces.
‘A chit will be provided for car owners for easy identification of their various vehicles. The Palace shall be most grateful for your favourable considerable and cooperation,’ it added.
A massive clean up exercise will be organised in the metropolis on Saturday January 14, 2017, from 6:am -12:pm.
The Bantamahene Baafour Owusu Amankwatia VI has directed that ‘all shops are to remain closed during the clean up exercise from morning till 1:pm on Saturday. All, those who go contrary to this directive to open their shops on Saturday within the stipulated time frame will face punitive action by a monitoring team of the traditional authorities’.
