The Minister Designate for Planning Professor George Yaw Gyan-Baffour has revealed that his ministry will be pivotal in the execution of campaign promises of the new government.
“My Ministry will oversee the planning and implementation of the campaign promises contained in the party’s 2016 campaign manifesto”, he told Lantam Papamko on the Ultimate Breakfast Show.
He indicates that planning has always been a field of his expertise but thought he would have been pushed into education considering the critical roles he played for the party in that sector in 2008 and 2012 respectively .
While stating that it is not surprising he has been assigned a new ministry, he promised to ensure that the promises are well coordinated and implemented in concert with the framework of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
“The 40-year NDPC blueprint is just a framework that requires the implementation of these promises to ensure it feeds into its success. This ministry will focus on how to ensure that the national plan is broken down in order to be implemented through the various plans in line with the party’s manifesto”, he emphasized.
Professor Gyan Baffour explained that the ingredients to achieve the 40-year NDPC blueprint are what his ministry will be implementing within the short term in consonance.
He also hinted of plans to prioritize government abandoned projects to save the national purse noting that what will pertain in his ministry will not be an easy task.
The Wenchi Constituency lawmaker assured that he will be a minister who will always be on ground and serious about the task he has been assigned and not an armchair one.
“I will be a minister always on ground and serious about what I am doing. I will be passionate about the job and work well with the people to bring about the needed development that will inure to the citizenry”, he promised.
