The Minister designate for Water Resources and Sanitation, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda has exclusively told ultimatefmonline.com that the ministry he has been assigned will be a challenging one but has promised to give off his best.
According to him, he is poised to ensure that there is portable water for both rural and urban Ghana, place premium on good sanitation that has always been a major problem bedeviling the country and protect the environment.
Mr Adda observed that the fact components of his ministry have been decoupled from the Housing and Local government ministries makes it more challenging and as stated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo while announcing his name, ‘he is open to challenges’.
“We will need to get water for both domestic and industrial use in the country, ensure that our environment is clean and free from rubbish that will drastically reduce filth-related diseases and as well initiate measures to protect environment” he stated.
The requirements of his ministry he emphasized, is not an individual job but will require the concerted efforts and contributions of various stakeholders in order to succeed promising to work hand in hand with them in the realization of the purpose for which his ministry has been established.
Mr Joseph Kofi Adda is a lawmaker for Navrongo Central Constituency in the Upper East region. He is also a Financial Economist and a Management Consultant.
He was a Minister of Manpower Youth and Employment under the erstwhile Kufuor administration and was very instrumental in the creation of the defunct National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).
As an Energy Minister, he facilitated the construction of the Bui Dam, acquisition of power plants like Kpone Thermal Plant, CENIT Power plant, played a major role in the country’s oil discovery, CFL energy saving bulbs introduction and also acted as a consultant that led Ghana’s Public Financial Reform Program which brought new Planning, Budgeting, Accounting, Procurement, Auditing and Revenue Management.
