Disaster at Kintampo Waterfalls, 20 dead, others injured as tree falls

Twelve people are reported dead when one of the huge trees at the Kintampo waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo fell from the uphill crashing and trapping them in the water.

More people are said to be currently trapped in the falls.

20 persons of whom some are students who were on excursion have been rushed to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.

“Huge trees fell from uphill crashing and trapping people in the water. Many more are still trapped in there. Some have been rushed to the hospital, 20 confirmed dead. Many are students on excursion. More than ten people are in critical condition at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital,’ Ultimate news’ Michael Mfum reported.

The tree is said to have fallen when it rained amidst storms.

Fire fighters and police have been rushed to the scene to rescue those trapped in the water.
