13 members of the vigilante group of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be appearing in a Kumasi Court on Tuesday April 11, 2017.
The members of the group who were standing trial for manhandling the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator George Adjei, with the help of their colleagues escaped the court.
The aggrieved group freed the court after the Judge Justice Mary Senkyire ruled that they be remanded.
They are alleged to have smashed properties on sight and nearly assaulted the Judge who was whisked away by the police.
They later turned themselves in to the police after public outcry.
The group on March 24, 2017 stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) protesting against the appointment of Mr Adjei claiming they cannot work with him because he is an ‘outsider’.
They agitated for their leader to be appointed by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and not Mr Adjei.
The police blamed the Security Coordinator for being ‘obstinate’ and causing the assault saying he refused to heed to caution of not stepping foot in his office on that fateful day.
